Studies

I study Computer Science at the VUB in Brussels and I currently am in a combination of the 3rd Bachelor, 1st and 2nd Master year of the education. Next year I hope on finishing my studies and starting to work.

Along the course of my studies I've learned quiet a few languages, be it in class for use in a project or for my own interests.

  • Programming languages
PHP, Ruby, Java, Smalltalk, JavaScript, Python, SQL, AmbientTalk, Scheme, C++, Objective-C, C, Processing, Lisp, ...
  • Web Technologies
Apache2, Tomcat, Java Servlets & Jsp's, Seaside, jQuery
  • Webservices
Facebook Graph, Google Maps, Yahoo Places, ...
  • GUI
jQuery UI, scriptaculous, GTK2, Interface Builder(Xcode OSX), Google GWT toolkit

Interests

Associations

I've been in quiet a few associations, youth movements and other. This is what I do in each:

  • Infogroep: A computer scientist fraternity. Functions: Maintaining IG3tool, organizing sport activities
    Previous spots: Webmaster, Purchases, Reservations
  • KAJ D'Aa: A youth movement in my hometown. Functions: Webmaster, Responsible/leader for -20 youth
  • BierKultuur: A fraternity for people with an interest in beer. Functions: Beer consumer.
  • Wetenschappenlijke Kring: A fraternity for scientists in general. Functions: None.

Sports

I generally like sports, the more active it is, the better. If I'd have to list my favourite sports, I'd start with wintersports like skiing and snowboarding followed by racket games like squash, badminton, pingpong and tennis. Football can also pass the bar when seen in a recreative context.

Informatics

Being a student computer science, it speaks for itself that I have an interest in technology. Mostly in creating technology myself, rather than using it. The domain I am most pleased to work in is the web. Using the web as a medium for all sorts of applications going from managing gameservers, to creating applications that work together with webservices like Facebook's graph API and google map's API.

Gaming

I guess my interest in informatics comes from my interest in games. I've always wanted to learn how to make my own games.
